We all love to make fun of the airlines, after all their motto is ‘we’re not happy until you’re not happy!’ But, I feel it is easier to put up with the airlines than some of the rental car companies. What is there not to like, you say? Let me count the ways….
Car rental companies have NO issues overbooking, oftentimes significantly. You show up to find your car isn’t available (at best) or even that no cars are available (at worst). There must be no motivation for servicing the customer, based on the body language of most agents. It’s hard to be loyal to one brand since it’s impossible to figure out the pricing strategy. It also seems like there are discounts available, yet they are elusive and hard to understand just how to implement. And, based on the paperwork I fill out, it seems I am applying for a mortgage rather than simply renting a car. Oh, and the lines…don’t get me started there!
If I were you, I would consider renting on Turo to avoid these frustrations. Quite frankly, it Hertz less! 😉
