I’ve said this before, but SPEED and RENTAL CARs go very well together. I will share a bit of a secret here. We install Viper GPS tracking on every Turo car we have. It allows a number of things. We can remote lock/unlock, start the vehicle, and get alerts for low battery and such things. It is really helpful to both us and the customers. What comes along with it is an alert system relating to speed. Colin has made more than one communication with a customer that is driving really, really fast. The fastest I have seen so far happened while I was in a business meeting. I looked at my phone and it said “2014 Honda Accord traveling 119 mph”. Uff da!
But it sometimes escalates. On the same car, we received an alert of 93 mph from a guy who was a bit late on a return. Suddenly he texted and told us he got pulled over. Next, we are informed our vehicle is at the pound. Our customer was driving with a suspended license! As a positive, we seem to be getting to know local law enforcement, as well as learning to navigate through the difficulties associated with accidents and such like. We haven’t opened a towing service, but it’s got us think’n! 😉
