Many of you that bring up the topic of Turo to us are usually just looking for entertainment. We know. And, the Turo experience we have, hasn’t disappointed in that arena. It causes many of you to ask if it is worth it. We would need to then ask if you mean ‘financially’ or ‘otherwise’? Let’s discuss the easy one first. The fact that Colin spends his most valuable time (his free time) dealing with vomit, weed, lying customers, fixing cars, etc. you may guess that the $/hr isn’t that great. And, you would be right.
But let’s now focus on the ‘otherwise’. Colin has learned how to set up a business, manage financials, understand taxes, developed interpersonal skills, developed relationships with many businesses, resourcefulness at a moment’s notice, the purpose of police impound lots, how to detect lies, how to clean up vomit, and many such like things. These are the things that a small business can teach, and it is taught more rapidly than you would think. Will those skills propel him in other endeavors? I suppose so. Sigh. Oh well, there is probably some upside as well. 😉
